Watch at home... as the Laughometer watches you

Comic Relief is presenting an ‘online comedy club’ to tie in with the Edinburgh Fringe.

The charity is using a Google+ Hangout to stream live stand-up, starting with Katherine Ryan on Thursday; followed by Sanderson Jones in Edinburgh the following week.

Audiences at home can choose to be in the ‘front row’ and interact with the comedian, or watch anonymously from the safety of the ‘back row’. Google has also developed a Laughometer, which uses a computer’s webcam to monitor viewers’ face movements to see how much they amused by the show, and suggest a Comic Relief donation accordingly.

Ryan said: I'm excited to be launching Hangout Comedy Club for Comic Relief as I am passionate about staying home in my pants. Now I can combine that passion with comedy and charity.’

Other acts lined up to take part include Joey Page, Stephen Bailey and Flange Krammer, and the shows will be streamed here
