Book deal for Bridget Christie
Bridget Christie has signed a publishing deal to write ‘a funny book about feminism’.
The contract with publisher Century follows her Radio 4 series on the subject, Bridget Christie Minds The Gap, which aired earlier this year.
Her book will not be out until spring 2015, but is already described as ‘full of personal anecdotes which branch out to give a very funny take on the state of feminism today’.
Century publishing director Ben Dunn said: ‘We are delighted to welcome rising star Bridget Christie to the Century list. Her unique take on feminism skilfully highlights inequality issues in society today, while remaining incredibly fresh and funny.'
Christie added: ‘As it's a book, I will be focusing mainly on the material, rather than the performance. I will also be using lots of strange fonts, emoticons and exclamation marks to highlight important issues, rather than words, which I feel are a bit overused in books.’
The deal was struck with Vivienne Clore at The Richard Stone Partnership.
Christie returns to the topic of feminism for her Edinburgh Fringe show this year, A Bic For Her, inspired by a pastel-coloured ballpoint pen marketed at women.
