Kitson to unveil new work at Latitude

Comedy line-up announced

Dylan Moran, Daniel Kitson and Lee Nelson are among the comics playing this year’s Latitude Festival, it has been announced tonight.

Kitson will be performing four different shows at the festival. In the Theatre Arena, he will present two performances of his current touring show After the Beginning . Before the End.

The same venue will also play host to the first previews of a brand new theatrical work, although no details have yet been announced.

Meanwhile, the Poetry Arena will feature a one-off performance of Lucinda Ding And The Monstrous Thing, a 45-minute adventure/poem/ballad with his long-time musical collaborator, Gavin Osborn, which he previously performed at Regents’ Park Open Air Theatre in London.

Finally, the Film & Music Arena will host the first ever public screening of It's Always Right Now, Until It's Later, a concert film of his live show of the same name, which was recorded last summer in Manchester. It will be followed by a Q&A session with Kitson and the film maker, Ewan Jones Morris.

Also on the comedy line-up for the Suffolk festival, which takes place from July 18 to 21, are Seann Walsh, Tim Key, Josh Widdicombe, Mark Watson and The Horne Section. Marcus Brigstocke will be presenting a preview of his new show Policy Unit at the Comedy Arena, which will again be opened by several of the finalists in the Chortle Student Comedy Award, with ALCATEL ONE TOUCH.

Headlining the music stage are Bloc Party, Kraftwerk and Foals, while the League Of Gentleman’s Jeremy Dyson will be reading from his new collection of stories, The Haunted Book, in the Literary Arena, where Robin Ince will present a ‘saucy’ version of his Book Club.

Latitude founder Melvin Benn said: ‘Latitude is now firmly established as the most artistically ambitious event in the UK summer calendar, with a line-up that goes from strength to strength each year.

‘Our 11 arts arenas will play host to a selection of comedians, theatre companies, poets, writers and other performers that really do make Latitude much more than a music festival.’
