Chris Addison pens new sitcom
Chris Addison is to make a new sitcom for Sky Living.
The show, Trying Again, is about what happens to a couple in the wake of an affair.
He co-created the eight-part series with Simon Blackwell – one of the writers on The Thick Of It.
The series, made by Avalon TV, will go into production this summer. It has not yet been confirmed whether Addison will also appear in the show, as casting announcements are due soon.
Addison previously ventured into sitcom with the broad and surreal BBC Two comedy Lab Rats, which only lasted one series.
Sky Living has also today announced a comedy series created by and starring actress Emily Mortimer and her real-life best friend, Dolly Wells.
Doll & Em is described as ‘a portrait of female friendship, set against the backdrop of LA’, and will also feature a number of high profile celebrity cameos.
And it was also confirmed that Mount Pleasant will return for a third eight-part run
Sky Living has been expanding its comedy output, like the rest of the satellite broadcaster’s channels. The Spa, starring another Thick Of It alumnus, Rebecca Front, begins soon, and last autumn it aired Gates, about parents on the school run.
Antonia Hurford-Jones, director of Sky Living, said: 'Today marks an exciting time for Sky Living as we reveal an incredibly strong line-up of talent, who I am thrilled to be welcoming to the channel.
'Each of our new commissions has great storytelling, great characters and engaging relationships at their heart. These are key themes which will run throughout our programming. There’s also big terrestrial talent arriving on the channel, both on and off screen.'
