Josh Widdicombe signs for XFM

...and for Reader's Digest

Josh Widdicombe has been signed up to present a weekend radio show on London’s XFM.

He will host a three-hour Saturday morning show on the station, which has previously employed the likes of Ricky Gervais, from January 19.

The broadcaster says the 8 Out of 10 Cats regular’s ‘infectious and understated humour makes him the perfect addition to the XFM family’.

He said: ‘I am so delighted I have been offered the chance to do this show on a station where I have previously listened to people I love like Adam And Joe, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Also, it's nice to finally be offered a job where I don't have to brush my hair.’

The Now Show’s Jon Holmes took over the XFM breakfast show from Monday, replacing Danny Wallace, who quit to concentrate on other work projects, including writing an American sitcom.

Widdicombe has also been signed up as the new ‘comedy columnist’ for Reader’s Digest, from their February edition.

Three-quarters of the magazine’s British staff were made redundant on Friday after its owner pulled the plug on its direct marketing division, while insisting the magazine itself was still profitable and would continue to be published as normal.
