Get your hands on Eric Idle's Dick

Show out to download next month

Eric Idle is to release his latest project – starring Russell Brand, Eddie Izzard, and Billy Connolly – as a digital download.

The former Python gathered the star-studded cast in Los Angeles earlier this year for a radio-style read-through of his musical What About Dick?

The cast also included Tim Curry, Frasier’s Jane Leeves, Tracey Ullman and Peep Show’s Sophie Winkleman – also known as e Lady Frederick Windsor.

Described as ‘a lowbrow comedy about highbrow people’, the plot involves eight actors who are gathered together to perform a classic radio drama, along with music written by Idle's Spamalot collaborator John Du Prez.

Idle describes the show – which begins with begins the invention of a sex toy in Shagistan – as ‘Oscar Wilde on acid or like Downton Abbey, only funnier’.

He added: ‘It’s got elements of a musical - we have songs. It's got elements of a play, but it’s not a play that you have to take completely seriously because it’s sort of a send up.

‘It has bits of stand up and improv and these hilarious comedians are playing multiple roles and doing impersonation.’

The show will be available for download from WhatAboutDick.comfor $6 from November 13.
