One tweet, and Rob Delaney's UK run sells out in an hour

Comedian Rob Delaney has sold out a week-long run at London’s Soho Theatre in an hour – on the back of just one tweet.

The American is one of the most popular comics on Twitter, with almost 500,000 followers, and was this year named the funniest person on the site by Comedy Central.

Tickets for his British debut in October had been due on sale yesterday, but on Friday he tweeted a code for advance sales – and all 900 seats went within an hour, making him the fastest selling US performer in the venue’s history.

Delaney, originally from Boston, now lives in Los Angeles, where he’s a fixture at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and the Hollywood Improv.  His television credits include being a contributing writer on The IT Crowd.

He will be in London from October 1 to 6, and his twitter account is @robdelaney
