William Shatner beams into HIGNFY

'Kirk' to boldly go into host's chari

William Shatner is to guest host Have I Got News For You.

The 81-year-old actor, who has made a career mocking his stilted delivery since leaving Star Trek and TJ Hooker, will be joined by guests Andy Hamilton and Charlie Brooker on the May 25 edition.

He said: ‘English sense of humour is different from American sense of humour. Luckily, I'm Canadian.’

Since Angus Deayton left the show in 2002, 80 people have guest-presented the show. Alexander Armstrong holds the record, presenting his 20th edition this week.

The rest of this series’ guest line-ups are:

May 11: Host Alexander Armstrong with Reginald D Hunter and Nadine Dorries MP

May 18: Host Kathy Burke with Ken Livingstone and Joe Wilkinson

May 25: Shatner’s edition

June 1: Alastair Campbell making his hosting debut, Nick Hewer and Ross Noble

June 8: Kirsty Young hosts, with Victoria Coren and Greg Davies.
