We nearly lost our Cool...
Comedian Phil Cool has narrowly escaped serious injury after a 'nasty' motorway pile-up after a gig.
He said his car was a write-off in the crash, which occurred on the M6 in Cheshire just before midnight last Thursday. The impressionist, who starred in his own TV series in the late Eighties, was left shaken but unhurt by the accident, which highlights the perils comedians face in driving up and down the country later at night.
Cool was driving back from a show at the Swan Theatre in Worcester when a BP petrol tanker in front of him had a blow-out, sending debris across the carriageway.
The 64-year-old had no time to swerve and ploughed into the shredded wreckage along with about dozen other cars.
He wrote on his Facebook page: 'Nasty collision on the M6 last night... all OK though and no need for concern - though the car looks like being a write off!'
And he told the Worcester News: 'I had no time to think but utter an expletive, and the next thing I knew I was on the hard shoulder. It was a miracle I was OK.'
