And Ken Goodwin goes, too

Another Comedians veteran dies

Veteran stand-up Ken Goodwin has died at the age of 78.

Like Frank Carson, who also died this week, Goodwin rose to fame in the Seventies through the Opportunity Knocks talent show before becoming a regular on The Comedians.

Manchester-born Goodwin actually died a few days before Carson, passing away at a nursing home in n Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales. last Saturday following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

His performance style was nervous and stuttering. He laughed at his own jokes and repeatedly told the audience to ‘Settle down now, settle down.’

Johnnie Hamp, producer of The Comedians, told the Manchester Evening News: ‘I had to sign him up to the first series of The Comedians because he was so funny. His jokes were like something out of the Dandy or Beano – he would laugh at people laughing at his jokes.’
