Black comedy award nominees announced

...and it's an open field

The nominees have been announced for his year’s Black Comedy awards.

No comedian dominates the list, but Gina Yashere, Reginald D Hunter, Ava Vidal, Eddie Kadi, Nathan Caton and Mo The Comedian have all been nominated for two main awards.

Several have also been nominated for best comedy moment – a diverse category which ranges from ‘Travis Jay making fun of a girl at The Cosy Show’ (an East London bar gig)  to Reginald D Hunter’s 52-date national theatre tour.

Categories include best international comedian, best on the mainstream circuit, best male and female comedian and best young male. However, there is not equivalent young female category, as organisers say: ‘How many black female under 30 comedians can you name?’
