Jimmy Carr leads Lafta nominations

Four nods in lads' mag awards

Jimmy Carr leads the nominations for next year’s Loaded Lafta awards, announced today.

The comic – who was named ‘Loaded Legend’ in the lads’ mag’s awards last year – has been shortlisted for funniest man, funniest Twitterer, funniest DVD and funniest joke.

And his Channel 4 show 8 Out Of Ten Cats has been nominated for Best Panel Show.

The awards have two new categories, Best Internet Viral Show, with nods to Alan Partridge, Harry Hill and Misery Bear, as well as Funniest Joke – following the PR success of a similar title awarded by TV channel Dave at the Edinburgh festival.

As usual, the awards has one eye on tabloid coverage, with David Hasselhoff, Ian Beale and Jedward up for awards.

Meanwhile The Chuckle Brothers are up for best double act.

Perhaps one surprise is the omission of Miranda Hart from the ‘funniest female’ category, despite her hit BBC One show.

The winners are decided by the magazines winners, and will be unveiled at a London ceremony on February 8.
