Genre tops 4oD requests

Comedy programmes are the most popular for on-demand viewing, Channel 4 figures have revealed.

The broadcaster says that 4oD views are on the rise with 31million programmes downloaded in August, up from 29million in July.

The Inbetweeners was the top performing series, drawing 2.2million views for its first series over the month. Season three attracted 1.8million views, and series two, 1.7million

The comedy genre as a whole scored 9.5 million views, closely followed by entertainment – which includes such shows as 8 Out Of 10 Cats – with 8.7million.

4oD is available on a range of platforms, including channel4.com, Youtube, iPods and iPads, Playstation3, BT Vision, Virgin Media, and Talk Talk.
