Jonnie Marbles pleads guilty

Comic admits Murdoch assault

Comedian Jonnie Marbles has admitted assault over his shaving-cream attack on Rupert Murdoch.

The 26-year-old, from Windsor, appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates' Court under his real name of Jonathan May-Bowles. In the 15-minute case, he spoke only to confirm his details and plead guilty to assault and causing harassment, alarm or distress over the Commons attack.

The hearing was adjourned until next Tuesday, when he will return for sentencing.

Outside court, the open mic comic said: ‘I would just like to say this has been the most humble day of my life’ – echoing the statement Murdoch made to the Commons Culture, Media and Sport committee.
