Jack Dee to tour again
Jack Dee is preparing to go on tour again, having finished work on the latest series of Lead Balloon.
He said: ‘It’s time to get back to doing stand-up again because I can never do more than one thing at a time.
‘It’s not as if I can write Lead Balloon in the day then do stand-up in the evening; it just doesn’t work like that for me. I like to have one project on at a time.’
Dee – who last toured in 2009 – told the Aberdeen Press & Journal that has returned to the clubs to work up material for the shows.
‘It’s almost exactly 25 years since I first went on stage at the Comedy Store and started plodding around doing open spots at clubs, and now I’m doing a very similar process 25 years later, he said.
And he denied he shared the jealousy his screen character Rick Spleen has for the up-and-coming acts he feels threatened by.
‘I know most of them anyway and I don’t feel they’re taking my place,’ he said of the younger generation. ‘I feel my space is moving all the time anyway and I think that happens in a career like this.’
