More gongs for Miranda

Hart wins two RTS awards

Miranda Hart has added to her awards collection – scooping two Royal Television Society gongs for her BBC Two sitcom.

The acclaimed show – which is soon to be moved to BBC One – was named best scripted comedy, while Hart herself won for best comedy performance.

The comedy writer prize was awarded for BBC series Getting On, written by its star Jo Brand with Joanna Scanlan and Vicki Pepperdine.

And Peter Bennett-Jones, founder of the Tiger Aspect production company and comedy agent whose company represents the likes of Rowan Atkinson, Lenny Henry and the Mighty Boosh, was given the lifetime achievement award.

Professor Brian Cox was another big winner at last night’s ceremony, being named best presenter for Wonders Of The Solar System, which also took the science and natural history prize.
