Give it some Latitude

Festival acts announced

Omid Djalili, Jason Byrne and Greg Davies are among the headline stand-ups appearing at this year’s Latitude Festival.

They will be joined in the comedy arena by Phill Jupitus, Jon Richardson, Brendon Burns, Danny Bhoy, Richard Herring, Tom Wrigglesworth, Rob Rouse, Seann Walsh, John Shuttleworth, Roisin Conaty, Doc Brown, Josh Widdicombe, Nick Helm, Idiots of Ants, Lady Garden and Katherine Ryan.

And more acts are expected to be added to the line-up before the festival, now in its sixth year, kicks off on July 14.

Latitude, which takes place at the Henham Park Estate in Southwold, Suffolk, prides itself on its broad artistic remit – and many comedy stars will be appearing in other arenas.

Among them are Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon , who will be discussing their BBC Two series The Trip in a Q&A session organised by Bafta in the film and music area.

Dave Gorman, Mark Thomas, Alexei Sayle, Rory McGrath and sketch outfit Pappy’s are among the comedians appearing in the literary arena; while the cabaret arena features the likes of Will Adamsdale, Bourgeois and Maurice, Late Night Gimp Fight and Dr Brown.

Programmer Tania Harrison said: ‘There are still quite a few comic still to be announced – so with out wanting to give it all away, I think this will be the best year yet.’

Latitude founder Melvin Benn added: ‘Latitude is more than just a music festival, and this years programme across the full spectrum of art and music is utterly exceptional.’

Headlining the main arena will be The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede, while other bands include British Sea Power, KT Tunstall, OMD and Paloma Faith. Sadler’s Wells, The English National Ballet, Hammersmith Lyric and The Bush theatre will also be staging performances.
