British acts up for Adelaide awards

British comics Ivan Brackenbury, Janey Godley, Diane Spencer and Rob Beckett have all been nominated for awards at the Adelaide Fringe.

Brackenbury – the inept hospital DJ created by Tom Binns – is in line for best comedy show, where he has been shortlisted alongside antipodeans Fiona O'Loughlin, Sam Simmons, The Boy With Tape On His Face and Ross Daniels.

Spencer – who last month won the Chortle Award for best newcomer – is up for best newcomer, alongside Beckett and three Australian acts; while Godley is in the running for the People’s Choice award.

Winners will be announced on Sunday, the last day of the festival.
