David Walliams completes 24 hour game show marathon

David Walliams has completed his 24-hour panel show marathon for Comic Relief.

The Little Britain star was presented with flowers and champagne as glitter cascaded from the ceiling at the end of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, the last show in the run.

The entire challenge, which finished just after midday, was streamed live online.

Walliams said the experience was ‘the most amazing TV shows with the most amazing people’ before adding: ‘Now I’m off to get some rest.’

In an interview after the marathon he said. ‘I’m quite tired. I got quite worried at the end. I really was deteriorating, I couldn't concentrate any more.’

‘About 4am, that was tough. The hardest thing is the downtime – as soon as you walk off set and sit down five minutes your body wants to go to sleep.’

He said his favourite show was Blankety Blank, joking: ‘We had nice people: Barbara Windsor, Keith Harris and Orville – very funny, unlike modern comedians. It was very nice. Also Give Us A Clue with Lionel Blair – yes I’ve met Lionel Blair – and Una Stubbs.

‘The most frightening one was Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you have to do these improv games I don’t know how to do.’

The stunt was raising money for Comic Relief, and highlights will be shown on BBC Three on Red Nose Day. March 18. To donate £5 to the charity, text ‘fiver’ to 70005
