We're relegating cruel jokes

James Corden promises to play nicely

Panellists on Sky sports quiz A League Of Their Own have been banned from making cruel jokes.

Host James Corden says no one will be the butt of ‘easy’ gags, in contrast to programmes such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

The 32-year-old said: ‘We've been quite careful, from the producers down to us. The easiest joke to make would be the one that makes people feel inferior.

‘We make jokes that are clearly jokes, rather than laying into people. It's the last thing we want.’

‘We're not booking people because they are weak or easy targets. There is nothing to be gained from someone looking awkward, embarrassed, or cut adrift.’

The new series, which also features comic John Bishop as a regular panellist, starts this Friday. The format has been extended to an hour, and now incorporates the guests taking part in a series of humorous sport-related challenges.
