Watson to pilot new improv show

Possible series for Dave

Mark Watson has been lined up to front a pilot episode of a new improvisation panel game.

The show, which has yet to be titled, will use green-screen technology to place the players in any situation the games demand.

Five stand-ups will be taking part in the pilot, which will not be broadcast.

It is one of several comedy ideas being considered by the Dave channel, which is looking to create more original comedy, following the success of Argumental and One Night Stand.

The show also follows the launch of BBC Two’s new improv show Fast & Loose, hosted by Hugh Dennis and made by Angst Productions, which also makes Mock the Week.

When that show launched a fortnight ago, Watson blogged: ‘For all sorts of reasons, but two specific ones, I’d like to know what you think about it... Assume I don’t have any involvement. Then later, I’ll tell you if that is true or not.’

Watson – who is one of the comedians appearing on the next series of One Night Stand – has separately mentioned that he is recording a pilot for Dave.
