BBC: We've not axed Harry & Paul
The BBC has denied that Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse’s sketch show has been axed.
The Sun today claimed their BBC Two show – which was nominated for a British Comedy Award at the weekend – had been dumped because ‘there isn’t space in the schedule.’
An unnamed source was quoted as saying: ‘It looks like Harry & Paul has run its course. There are no more planned now. Harry & Paul is finished.’
However, the corporation denied that was the case. The show moved from BBC One to BBC Two last year, where it attracted modest – but by no means dreadful ratings – of 1.3 million viewers.
A BBC spokesman said: ‘We were delighted that Harry and Paul's first series for BBC Two was as bold, naughty and funny as ever.
‘Nothing is confirmed yet but we're looking forward to talking to them about their future plans on the channel.’
