It's all one big joke...
Another comedy endurance record has been set – with one American club mammoth 81 hours of non-stop stand-up,
Magooby’s Joke House in Baltimore staged the marathon show last week, narrowly beating the previous record held by the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.
To claim the title, all the comics on stage had to be professionals – defined by Guinness World Records as having at least one year’s experience in comedy and a minimum of 20 paid gigs. Each set had to last at least 30 minutes, and comics could not return to the stage within four hours.
In addition, there had to be a minimum of ten audience members at all times.
Owner Andrew Unger admitted: ‘It's gotten so that, at 3 or 4am, some of the comedians have been performing for as few as ten or 12 people. Sometimes, it's like they're performing for an audience of sleep-deprived zombies.’
The show – which featured around 80 comedians – started at 2.30pm last Monday and ended late on Thursday night.
