Welcome back, Peeps

Peep Show audience rises

Peep Show has staged a ratings comeback – with more than a million viewers watching the second episode of the new series.

When it debuted a week ago, the Channel 4 comedy attracted a very disappointing 880,000 viewers.

But audiences rose by more than 25 per cent for this week’s episode, to reach 1.13million at 10pm on Friday. Another 104,000 watched on C4+1.

Star David Mitchell had previously criticised the decision to air the first episode online a week before the series started.

Also on Friday night, Michael McIntyre’s solo stand-up show Hello Wembley was seen by 3.9million on BBC One at 10pm.

The audience for the show, which had previously been available on a bestselling DVD, was more than 30 per cent down on the slot average.
