Movie role for Ricky

Ricky Gervais is to appear in the next Muppet movie, it has been aonnounced today.

He joins a list of cameos that already inculdes Jack Black, Billy Crystal, Zach Galifianakis and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Gervais has already made a guest appearance on Sesame Street and shot a number of internet shorts with Elmo.

He said: ‘The Muppets are an institution and I always knew I'd end up in one of those’

Director James Bobin – who previously worked on the Flight Of The Conchords TV series and Da Ali G Show – is currently shooting the film around Los Angeles.

The plot has the Muppets reunite to put on a show in order to save their movie studios from a developer.
