Tabloid revelations about Jason Manford’s private life appear to have done no damage to his stand-up career – as he has just announced his first arena tour.
Details of ten dates in venues such as London’s O2 Arena and the Birmingham LG Arena come just days after he quit The One Show over his internet dalliances with fans.
He already had more than 80 major theatre dates remaining in his Off On Tour We Go show – but the new gigs add hundreds of thousands of new seats to the run,
However, the new gigs are not until October and November next year, by which time the 29-year-old comic will be hoping the newspaper stories will juts be a distant memory.
He said: ‘If someone had told me ten years ago when I was telling jokes down at my local that I’d be doing arenas by the time I was 30, I’d have said they should give comedy a go! It’s a really exciting opportunity and I am going to give it my best shot.’
Tickets for the new dates – which also include nights in Liverpool, Sheffield, Nottingham, Glasgow, Newcastle, Cardiff, Aberdeen and Belfast – go on sale at 10am on Friday. Dates.
Even before today’s announcement, the tour included a night at Manchester’s MEN Arena.
