30 Rock keeps rolling

New series and later slot for sitcom

America’s NBC network has renewed 30 Rock for a sixth series, meaning the Tina Fey sitcom will be on air until early 2012 at least.

Angela Bromstad, the network’s president of primetime entertainment, said: ‘We are happy to confirm the pickup of 30 Rock for another season. It continues to be a bold, hilarious, sophisticated comedy that has become a classic in its own time.’

The news comes as 30 Rock celebrates its 100th episode this season. It is also being moved to 10pm slot, 90 minutes later than previously, which writers hope will allow them to be more edgy.

The show, which has won the Best comedy Emmy for the past three years, attracts an average 6.6million viewers in the States – with many more watching on demand. It is shown on Comedy Central in Britain.
