Oldies but Goodies...
The Goodies will all take part in Bristol’s annual festival of visual comedy next year.
Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke Taylor and Graeme Garden will join Rob Brydon, Shappi Khorsandi and Barry Cryer at the Slapstick festival in January.
But the Seventies comedy troupe – who celebrated their 40th anniversary this weekend – will all be appearing at separate events.
Garden will look at the work of American vaudevillian Harry Langdon, Brooke-Taylor will remember the comic genius of Marty Feldman, while Oddie will be contributing to the gala show.
That evening will feature big screen showings of four silent comedy classics with live musical accompaniment, plus former Monty Python collaborator Neil Innes, who will be performing a ukulele tribute to Charlie Chaplin.
In other events, Rob Brydon will interview Barry Cryer about his top 10 comedy moments of all time, Shappi Khorsandi will be talking about the importance of Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator and Dad’s Army veteran Ian Lavender will introduce Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Junior.
The Slapstick Festival takes place in various Bristol venues from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 January.
