HBO talk show for Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais is to appear alongside Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and Louis CK on a one-off comedy talk show.
The special, Talking Funny will feature the A-list comics talking about their craft and is being made for the HBO network.
It follows the success of Paul Provenza’s similar series The Green Room on the rival Showtime channel. That show, now in its second series, likewise features a panel of comedians talking about their work.
Producers of Talking Funny say it will be ‘the meeting of the most important comedy minds in the world, with an insight to how they have achieved their success, what they think of each other’s talents and their viewpoints on the world of comedy’.
If it is a success, the network will follow it up with Talking Toons, with animation gurus, like Seth McFarlane, and Acting Funny with comedy actors such as Zach Galifianakis.
The show will be filmed in New York this autumn.
