He who laughs longest

Norwegian comic attempts stand-up record

A Norwegian comedian is to attempt to beat the record for the longest solo stand-up show, which currently stands at 38hrs and six minutes.

Hans Morten Hansen will embark on the challenge next Wednesday, to kick off the Oslo Comedy Festival

The record is currently held by Australian Lindsay Webb, who beat Tommy Tiernan’s previous 36hr 15 min record in October last year..

Hansen’s attempt will be overseen by Jonas Kinge Bergland, who is a trained doctor..

The 46-year-old said: ‘It all started as a challenge, and I was dismayed when I found out how long Tommy and Lindsay had managed.

‘I think the key here is to have an audience there to support you and to use the five-minute breaks you're allowed each hour wisely. Fortunately, you are allowed to repeat yourself which is a relief’ he told the Irish Times.
