Velcro scene not a rip-off

Judge dismisses Bruno lawsuit

Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly seen off another legal challenge to his Bruno movie.

The comedian had faced a California lawsuit claiming that he had plagiarised a scene from an unmade movie called Himbos.

Court papers claimed that the incident in which Baron Cohen caused chaos at a Milan fashion show by wearing a Velcro suit had been, erm, ripped off from the earlier idea.

But leading showbiz website TMZ.com said the case was dismissed by a federal judge yesterday.

It is not the only legal attack on the 2009 film, the most high-profile being Palestinian Ayman Abu Aita’s multi-million dollar lawsuit against Baron Cohen for describing him as a terrorist leader.
