See you next, Tuesday

Page Three character returns to TV

Nineties comedy character Gayle Tuesday, a dumb Page Three girl, is to make a comeback for a new Living TV show.

The station has ordered a 60-minute pilot episode – its first ever comedy commission – to air next month.

The dim model is the creation of Brenda Gilhooly, pictured, now a writer and occasional performer on Harry Hill’s Burp. She made her TV debut in 1991 after several years on the circuit, and had her own short-lived show in 1996, called Gayle’s World

Hill script edited the new pilot, and makes a cameos appearance alongside Heston Blumenthal, Ainsley Harriot, Toyah Wilcox, Paul O’Grady, Louie Spence and Hollyoaks star Roxanne McKee.

The semi-improvised show follows Gayle’s attempts to revive her showbusiness career by cynically taking on charity work and getting onto a reality cookery show.

Fellow Harry Hill writer David Quantick has described it as the 'best script I've read for ages'.

Living’s head of commissioning Mark Sammon said: ‘We know that Living's young audience love scripted comedy on the channel, like US hit Cougar Town, so we're very excited to have made our first commissioning step into this genre and to have secured the services of such a great comedy writer and performer in Brenda.’

The pilot has been made by independent production company Black Orchid.
