Farewell Michael Scott

Steve Carell says he’s ready to quit the American version of The Office next year.

He said it’s unlikely he will renew his contract when it expires next year as his film career has taken off.

In an interview with Richard Bacon on Radio 5 Live, Carell said: ‘I have a contract through next season,’ and when asked if he’d continue, he replied: ‘I don’t think so. I think that’ll probably be my last year.’

Next year’s season will be the seventh of the NBC series.

Carell is currently starring in the movie Date Night movie alongside Tina Fey and has upcoming roles in Dinner for Schmucks, Get Smart 2 and the animated film Despicable Me.<
