Ricky returns to awards bash

Ricky Gervais is to host Hollywood’s Golden Globe Awards for a second year.

Before the Office star presented this year’s event, the ceremony had gone more than a decade without a host, relying instead on a parade of stars to hand out each award.

The show will be on January 16 next year, and broadcast live on NBC.

Gervais said: ‘I can't believe they invited me back after the awful things I said. Let's see how far I can go this time.’

President Philip Berk, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organises the bash, said: ‘We are thrilled to have Ricky back as the host of the Golden Globe Awards.

‘His combination of wit, irreverence and spontaneity makes him the ideal host. He was fantastic last year, and he'll be even better the second time around.’
