Coogan and Brydon reunite

New comedy for BBC2

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon are to be reunited on screen for a new BBC Two series.

The couple will play versions of themselves touring the restaurants of the Lake District in the series The Trip.

The series is being made by Michael Winterbottom, who directed them both in 2005’s A Cock and Bull Story – where they again played heightened versions of themselves ‘backstage’ on a film set.

On his blog, Brydon wrote: ‘Steve Coogan and I play loose versions of ourselves touring around The Lakes and reviewing restaurants. I’ve not laughed so much in ages. I think it goes out in the summer

‘Four weeks of filming in some of the best restaurants in the North, which sometimes necessitated eating each meal three times to accommodate different camera angles, has left me eight pounds heavier. Eight pounds! A whole baby.

‘This new delivery of fat has been deposited almost exclusively to my belly, or, as I call it, the meat packing district.’
