BBC Three goes gaga over La La
BBC Three has bought the rights to air La La Land, British character comic Marc Wootton’s first American series.
The series, which is narrated by Julian Barratt of The Mighty Boosh, has already aired on Showtime in the US and will now air in Britain from the week commencing April 23.
It features him playing three characters, including psychic Shirley Ghostman, and new creations Gary Garner, an East London taxi driver determined to be an action star; and Brendan Allen, a wannabe documentary maker.
The script follows each character as they seek Hollywood fame, involving scenes with real-life people unaware they are dealing with comic creations.
The British version will include a storyline deemed too controversial for American viewers, in which ‘Brendan Allen’ character poses as one of Barack Obama’s Kenyan cousins.
The series will also be released on DVD in June
