Chortle awards: Watch the video
Michael McIntyre was a double winner at the Chortle Awards on Monday night – scooping the gong for best tour and the TV and radio award for his comedy roadshow.
And he even nabbed a third – by picking up the breakthrough act award on behalf of Scottish stand-up Kevin Bridges, as they both share an agent.
The London ceremony was hosted by Mark Watson, while other star guests included Eddie Izzard, Keith Chegwin, Ronni Ancona, Alistair McGowan, Tim Minchin Terry Christian, Simon Bird, Rhys Thomas, Dave Lamb, James Dreyfus and Tommy Walsh.
Meanwhile, Sarah Millican became the first woman to win the best headliner category, while Jarred Christmas took the best compere award and Tim Minchin won musical or variety act.
Chris Addison brought the proceedings to a close with a heartfelt and funny tribute to Armando Iannucci, who collected the award for outstanding contribution to comedy. He joked that the Chortle Award ‘made up for losing the Oscar’ for the In The Loop screenplay.
