E4 snaps up Demetri Martin show

US series to air this autumn

E4 has brought the rights to air cult US hit Important Things with Demetri Martin.

The channel will broadcast the quirky stand-up’s seven-part series from this autumn.

Channel 4’s head of acquisitions, Gill Hay said: ‘Demetri Martin’s new show has proved to be a hit in the US and his bizarre sense of humour has garnered quite a following.’

America’s Comedy Central has recently ordered a second series of the show, which will air in the US early next year.

Former Perrier-winner Martin is also a regular on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, has appeared in Flight of the Conchords as a ‘keytar’ player and has the starring role in Ang Lee's new film Taking Woodstock.

Here is a clip from the first US series, which aired in March.
