Skinner and Mack to travel the world

...or some of it, at least

Frank Skinner and Lee Mack are to retrace the steps of Phileas Fogg – and Michael Palin – in going round the world in 80 days.

However, they won’t have to circumnavigate the entire globe, just the first leg of the journey, after which they will hand over to one of the five other teams of celebrities taking part in the giant relay race.

Other stars taking part in the BBC One show include Myleene Klass, Josie Lawrence and Shane Richie.

The adventure will be in aid of Children In Need and was unveiled as part of the channel’s autumn schedules today.

It was also announced that stand-up showcase Live At The Apollo will return for another series, recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo and hosted by a series of guests including Michael McIntyre and Jason Manford.

The BBC also confirmed the ensemble sitcom Big Top, featuring Amanda Holden, John Thomson, Sophie Thompson, Tony Robinson, Ruth Madoc and Bruce Mackinnon will air later in the year.

BBC One’s autumn schedule also includes 16 new episodes of QI, the third series of Gavin & Stacey and the previously-announced Impressions Show, starring Jon Culshaw and Debra Stephenson.
