From Worst Week writers

The BBC has ordered a mockumentary about the 2012 Olympics from the writers of The Worst Week Of My Life.

Going for Gold will centre on the fictional deputy chair of the Olympics organising committee struggling to get a venue ready on time.

Mark Bussell, who is co-writing the feature-length piece with Justin Sbresni, told trade magazine Broadcast: ‘He’s responsible for putting on the greatest show on Earth - you couldn’t imagine a job with higher stakes.

‘In Worst Week-style, it will show all the pitfalls and travails he faces as he awaits the International Olympic Committee’s visit.’

The show is likely to air next year.
