'Lost' Kenneth Williams script found

Radio 4 to make it after more than 40 years

A lost Kenneth Williams script is to be performed on radio for the fist time ever.

Twice Ken Is Plenty was written by Kenneth Horne and Mollie Millest, a ghostwriter on Horne’s Sixties radio series Beyond Our Ken, and was intended for Horne and Williams to perform together.

But it was never made, and the script lay undiscovered until it was put up for sale on eBay as part of a batch of Williams memorabilia.

The items were sold by Williams’s godson Robert Chiddell, and bought by former Radio 1 DJ Wes Butters, who last year used them as the basis for a book, Kenneth Williams Unseen, and a two-part Radio 4 documentary.

Following that programme, Butters was commissioned to make Twice Ken Is Plenty.

Robin Sebastian and Jonathan Rigby, who played Williams and Horne respectively in the West End show Round The Horne... Revisited in 2004, will revisit their roles for the new recording, which will take place in front of a studio audience next month.
