Robbie Williams joins Little Britain

...for Comic Relief sketch

Robbie Williams and Catherine Tate are to appear in Little Britain sketches for Comic Relief.

The Angels singer will play a small American girl – complete with pink dress and with fuchsia ribbons in his hair – for his scene alongside Matt Lucas and David Williams.

He said: ‘It’s hard to say no when asked to take part in a Little Britain sketch for Comic Relief. But I have to admit that dressing up as a small American child in a pretty dress made it all the more appealing.’

Lucas revives his Ellie May character from Little Britain USA for the scene, while Walliams plays her mother.

Walliams said: ‘Robbie was absolutely brilliant in the Ellie Grace sketch. He could be a comedian full time if he wanted to.’

Matt Lucas added: ‘I never thought Robbie would do anything funnier than Angels but he has!’

Williams previously joined the duo for a special sketch for 2005’s Comic Relief.

Meanwhile Tate has filmed a scene as the boss of Walliam’s character Carol, defined by her catchphrase, ‘computer says no’.

The sketches will be shown on BBC One this Friday, as part of the Red Nose Day telethon.

Other items on the night will include: sketches from Ricky Gervais, Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouse; a collaboration between double-acts Armstrong & Miller and Mitchell & Webb; Gavin & Stacey’s Smithy (James Corden) imparting his wisdom to the England Football squad; the conclusion of Comic Relief does The Apprentice with Alan Carr, Jack Dee and others; and French & Saunders’s final sketch.
