Pulling in a new audience

US remake for Sharon Horgan's sitcom

Sharon Horgan’s comedy Pulling may have been axed by BBC Three – but it might have found a new home across the Atlantic.

The ABC network is to remake the sitcom about thirtysomething women misguidedly hanging on to their youth for the US market.

According to Hollywood trade magazine Variety, Horgan will be executive producer on the remake, alongside playwright Dennis Kelly, who co-wrote the series with her.

A pilot episode has been ordered, to be written by Rob Hanning – who has previously worked on Malcolm In The Middle and 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter – and made by ABC Studios.

Other British comedies currently being remade in America include ITV2’s No Heroics, and a new version of Absolutely Fabulous.
