Izzard to make Riches film
The drama, about a criminal family going straight after assuming the identities of a middle-class couple, was dropped by the FX network after its second season ended in April.
Now Izzard, who is currently performing his stand-up show Stripped in the West End, told the BBC: ‘We've had the meeting and the writers are going to go off and slam out a story.'
But he said it would be independently financed, rather than backed by a studio.
‘We're going to raise money like Barack Obama through the internet, and we're going to shoot it guerilla-style,' he said.
Izzard added now was the ‘perfect time’ to fund a film this way, saying: ‘Everything's getting tight, money's getting tight and there's the credit crunch - so it's the time to go out and be inventive.’
In a previous interview Izzard said there was ‘unfinished business’ with the show.
He said: ‘We want to do a film to continue it … I met Samuel L. Jackson in a lift in London. And he was going, “So what happens with your kids… they gonna be ok? You continuing? what’s going on?”
‘So I thought, well, if Samuel L. Jackson wants to know what’s going on, we have to do a film. So we’re going to pick up… exactly where we left off.’
