Barry Humphries has appendix op
Dame Edna Everage creator Barry Humphries has undergone an emergency appendix operation.The 73-year-old comic is now said to be recovering well following the weekend procedure in a Sydney hospital.
His manager Harley Medcalf told Australia’s Daily Telegraph: ‘He saw a doctor on Saturday and was admitted on Sunday, before having the operation on the same day.
‘His attitude is very cheerful and he will be off to the US in a couple of weeks. He's always working and touring and that hasn't been interrupted by this at all.’
Edna’s tour is due to kick off in Austin, Texas, on January 18. It includes one UK date – at the SECC in Glasgow on March 21, as part of the city’s comedy festival.
