Lucas and Henry star in radio drama

Matt Lucas and Lenny Henry are to star together in a radio play for the World Service.

The pair will appear in an hour-long adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel Anansi Boys, in which an ordinary Londoner discovers his late father was the reincarnation of a West Indian spider god.

Henry plays the lead character, Fat Charlie, was well as his brother Spider; while Lucas plays the villain, Graham.

It also stars comic Jocelyn Jee Esien, Three Non Blondes star Tameka Empson and veteran actor Rudolph Walker.

The show, which is due to air on November 17, has been recorded this week. Gaiman attended the session, and posted pictures on his blog.

Lucas joked that he hadn’t worked with Henry ‘since Star Wars, as C-3PO and R2-D2’.
