Simon's story

Amsell works on BBC2 sitcom

Simon Amstell is working on a sitcom based on his own upbringing in a Jewish family for BBC Two.

The series, which reportedly has the working title Grandma’s House, is being developed by independent production house Tiger Aspect.

He is also said to be developing a number of shows with the company, including an entertainment format, according to actors’ newspaper The Stage.

Tiger Aspect is the company behind The Vicar Of Dibley and The Catherine Tate Show.

So far, BBC executives have heard a read-through of one planned episode of the sitcom, which was said to have been ‘well received’. However, the show has not been formally commissioned.
