Farewell to John Inman

Stars gather at funeral

John Inman was ‘given a good send-off’ by friends and family in London today.

Comedy stars who attended his funeral in London at Golders Green crematorium included his Are You Being Served? Co-stars Wendy Richard and Frank Thornton, plus Barbara Windsor and Danny La Rue.

Windsor said before the service: ‘John Inman was without a doubt - and you'll see from the turnout - one of the loveliest, sweetest men in our business.

‘I was very fortunate to have worked with him, and I knew him for over 30 years.

‘Everybody wanted to work with John Inman. He was the best.’

Wendy Richard, who played Miss Brahms in the sitcom that attracted 22 million viewers at its peak, said: ‘He's going to be greatly missed’

Inman died on March 8 after a long struggle with a Hepatitis A infection.
