Extra special...
David Bowie, Orlando Bloom and Chris Martin are among the big-name stars appearing in the next series of Extras.
But Madonna, who had been expected to appear after meeting Ricky Gervais at the Live8 gig, is not among the roster of cameos as filming clashed with her tour dates, according to newspaper reports today.
Sir Ian McKellen also features, with Gervais’s character Andy Millman puckering up to kiss the gay actor, despite his obvious terror at the encounter.
And in Bowie’s episode, Millman bribes his way into the VIP area of a club where the singer is relaxing - but is asked to leave as Bowie bursts into song, according to today’s Sun.
Bloom, 29, is desperate to date Ashley Jensen’s character Maggie, but she spurns him, despite his heartthrob image.
In other storylines, Chris Martin asks for a role in a sitcom Millman is making, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe plays a yob and newsreader Moira Stewart is in a cocaine plot.
Other stars with roles in the series, according to The Sun, include Jonathan Ross, Richard and Judy, Diana Rigg, Richard Briers, Ronnie Corbett, Germaine Greer, Stephen Fry and the cast of Holby City.
Filming on the new series started on Monday.
