It's 'crip radio'

Comic fronts BBC disability podcast

Disabled comic Liz Carr and actor Mat Fraser have launched a BBC podcast promising to tackle disability in a politically incorrect way.

The 40-minute broadcast Ouch!, includes such items as the quiz Vegetable, Vegetable or Vegetable - in which the hosts have to guess what's wrong with the disabled caller on the end of the phone.

It is part of the corporation’s disability website Ouch!, which tries to talk about the subject ‘in the way disabled people do down the pub’.

Carr, a wheelchair user who was part of the Abnormally Funny People showcase at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe said the show felt like ‘the first broadcast of Crip Radio'.

Thalidomide survivor Fraser added: ‘It's part Richard and Judy, part Ricky Gervais - irreverent, funny and fresh ... and I hope something that'll spread like a disease.’
